Diablo IV's Hype Was 'Damaged' By 'Shallow' Diablo Immortal, Says Asmongold

Asmongold Has Very Low Expectations For Diablo IV Following Diablo Immortal Debacle

Diablo IV was finally revealed as part of the recently concluded Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase. However, Activision Blizzard could've probably expected a bit more fanfare, to which Twitch streamer Asmongold says he might have the answer as to why.

As reported by DotESports, Asmongold says that the reason hype for Diablo IV basically wasn't enough is due to the game's current state. He was very vocal about his concerns regarding the game, claiming that issues run far deeper than its copious amount of microtransactions.

Here's what he has to say about Immortal so far, and it could be safe to say that the star Twitch streamer didn't hold back one bit:

I don't know why they released this game. I don't understand. It's so depressing. Every single time I'm playing this game, I feel like I'm slapping myself in the face. This has nothing to do with the pay to win. The game is fundamentally bad.

He then goes on to say that numerous other things went wrong with the quality of the PC version specifically. After trying that one out, he claimed that the team at Activision Blizzard basically didn't do anything to make the version of the game better. Asmongold said that the PC version is not even better than any "tacked-on, last-ditch effort" that a game porting studio could do.

To cap things off, Asmongold once again went on with his criticisms of the game's pay-to-win nature, saying that Diablo Immortal is a "pay-to-win piece of s***" designed to basically goad people to spending way more money than they should - all in the name of progressing their character. His overall verdict on Immortal is that it's "garbage," while saying that the free-to-play MMORPG's failures is what didn't give him high hopes for Diablo IV at all.

As a result of his troubles with the game, Asmongold has announced that he's quit playing Diablo Immortal in a recent video posted on his YouTube channel:

Asmongold's Thoughts On Diablo IV

Activision Blizzard has announced a test access for Diablo IV following the reveal of its gameplay trailer at the Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase earlier this month. But don't count Asmongold as one of the fans eager to try their hands on the game when it comes out.

Dexerto reports that the Twitch streamer isn't really buying into the hype, saying that the overarching issues with Immortal and Diablo 3 basically damaged the upcoming game's reputation ahead of release. Here is his latest tweet on the issue, which has now earned over 10.5k likes and 503 replies at the time of this writing:

As you can see in the tweet, he compared Activision Blizzard's free-to-play MMORPG to others like Path Of Exile and Lost Ark, while also saying that the game will have to "win him over" when it comes out. He says that if Diablo IV ends up pretty bad, he will at least have those two games to play instead. However, Asmongold did say that he "really hopes" he turns out to be wrong.
