The Lunar New Year is fast approaching. To celebrate the occasion, Blizzard recently announced that it will launch a new limited-time event in Diablo IV next week, where players can earn some cool cosmetic items and more.

It's Time for the Awakening

The upcoming Lunar Awakening event has a lot in store for Diablo IV players. First, all of the shrines in the game will receive a facelift. Players who are going to interact with the new "Lunar Shrines" can get a 50% boost in XP gain and a 30% increase in movement speed while the shrine buff is active. Considering that Season 3 has just begun, the upcoming event is a great way for players to level up quickly.

Second, Lunar Shrines provide bonus effects on top of their regular shrine powers. For instance, the Greed Shrine lets players summon a couple of Treasure Goblins if they slay at least 50 monsters while the shrine buff is active.

Additionally, the Protection Shrine becomes more powerful. When the buff is active, players will reflect all incoming damage to nearby enemies. The amount of damage reflected scales with the player's current level and the World Tier they are in.

Here is a rundown of the other augmented Lunar Shrine effects:

  • Artillery Shrine: Casts have a chance to summon a holy bomb.

  • Blast Wave Shrine: Each explosion summons a cluster bombardment.

  • Channeling Shrine: Increased attack speed and chance to reset cooldowns.

  • Conduit Shrine: Summon frequent, powerful, shocking strikes.

  • Lethal Shrine: Chance to instantly execute a struck monster, causing Fear on surrounding monsters. Note: this includes Elites, but excludes Bosses and other Players.

Dressed for the Occasion

Once the Lunar Awakening event in Diablo IV begins, players can earn "Ancestors Favor" by completing dungeons, slaying monsters, and activating Lunar Shrines. Players who are able to earn enough event reputation can unlock new weapon skins and some cosmetics for their horse mount. Moreover, players who do not mind spending real money can get their hands on some premium cosmetics by visiting Tejal's Shop.

Improved Dungeon Sigils

During the event, all Nightmare Dungeon Sigils that players earn have a chance of rolling the "Ancestor's Favor" dungeon affix. This guarantees that only Lunar Shrines will spawn for that dungeon instead of the regular shrines.

What's cool about this is that players can stockpile these Nightmare Dungeon Sigils for later use. That's because Blizzard has confirmed that these sigils will stay even after the event concludes.

The Lunar Awakening event for Diablo IV begins on February 6 and will end on February 20 at 1 p.m. EST.
