‘ArcheAge’ MMO From Creator of ‘Lineage’ Closed Beta Release Date Announced

Enter The Age Of Empowerment This July 17: Closed ArcheAge Beta Happening

Superstar Lineage creator Jake Song came out of retirement to create ArcheAge, an immensely popular MMO in Korea and Russia. In a week you'll be able to give adventuring in Haranya, Nuia and Auroria a test run.

The ArcheAge beta will run from 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 17 through 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 21 (both times PDT). Sign up at their official site right here. No non-disclosure agreements will be necessary, so publisher Trion Worlds and dev XL Games hopes you take plenty of screenshots and vids to share with your friends.

If you can't wait for beta, you can buy a Founder's Pack here and get immediate alpha and ensured beta access, as well a bunch of other goodies. I guess they're really aiming for well-off customers here, because a Founder's Pack costs about as much as three copies of Guild Wars 2.

Based on the AkkiAge fantasy novels by Korean author Min Hee Jun and running off CryTek's CryEngine, ArcheAge offers some fairly unique features, like a Judicial system with player-run courts that can actually sentence other players to labor and/or imprisonment to pay off their debts. You can hand in unfinished quests for a diminished amount of XP.

In a busy MMO market with plenty of competitors, will ArcheAge be able to stand out among the throng? Eve Online, with its player-run economy, is considered XL's biggest competitor. A fearsome foe indeed! Will you be giving ArcheAge a shot?
