Borderlands 2 Loot Hunt Winners Announced- Over 500 Million Enemies Killed and $100k Earned

Borderlands 2 Loot Hunt Winners Announced, Most Hated Enemy Revealed (Anchormen!)

2K Games and Gearbox Software wrapped up their Borderlands 2 Loot Hunt recently and have just announced the winners of the contest. As reported they were giving gamers $100k in cash just for doing what they do best- killing enemies and looting their corpses for weapons. Over 500 million enemies ended up biting it over the course of the contest, and over 28 million guns were rounded up.

Here are the top winners of the contest-

Christopher Kuehne - $50,000

Patricia Ohlund - $20,000

Caleb Klenk - $15,000

Matt Deegler - $10,000

Insane amounts of money given away, and that's on top of the weekly prizes they gave out that included Playstation Vitas, Turtle Beach headsets and Nvidia Shields. Not bad for just playing a game you were likely playing already!

These five winners beat the odds among over a million digital entries and tens of thousands post cards that were mailed in, during a time period where 2K Games and Gearbox says that 516,812,670 enemies were killed. For more fun stats you can check out the infographic below, which shows you how many guns were looted, who was the most popular Vault Hunter, and what is the most hated enemy of all, among other things.

As part of the Loot Hunt they have released special fantasy-themed character skins Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep add-on. You can get them over the course of the or simply go here to get codes to download them.

Borderlands 2 is currently free for Playstation Plus subscribers and can be found for a song at many places online, usually well under $20. There's also a Game of the Year edition that comes with all of the currently available DLC, minus the Headhunter missions, the Christmas-themed last one which was just released. This seems to wrap the game to a close now that all the DLC is out and the contest is over, so could Gearbox be working on Borderlands 3, possibly for next-gen consoles? You can pretty much bet on it- after all, it's not like they're going to be cranking out sequels to Aliens: Colonial Marines or Duke Nukem Forever anytime soon.
