'Fallout 4's' 58GB High-Resolution Texture Pack Is Out Now On PC

"Fallout 4" has apparently received all of its planned DLC content and was not expected to receive any new upgrades, but surprisingly, Bethesda delivers a huge update patch for the game. However, this update does not have anything to do with more story content or additional side missions. Instead, the large file size is actually a 58GB texture pack for the entire game.

The latest update reportedly enhances all the games various objects with more detailed textures. Some sources speculate that the large file size is one of the reasons why the game did not originally launch with the latest content. Players should also note that the downloaded files will require a somewhat beefier system. Forbes reports that computers hoping to run the upgrade will need at an Intel Core i7-5820K, an 8GB RAM and a GTX-1080 as the bare minimum.

Bethesda's "Fallout 4" 58GB texture pack reportedly only enhances the game's various textures. However, it does not tweak the object and character models. Users claim that the most of them felt it was a little weird to see the same models with enhanced textures. The texture pack update appears to be only limited to the PC version of the open-world post-apocalyptic RPG.

Meanwhile, PS4 Pro users are also scheduled to receive a patch to update the game's graphics. The update will be labeled a version 1.9 and is expected to hit consoles later this week. The full patch notes can be viewed on the developer's official blog post, which elaborates the many changes incoming for the console versions of the game, says Game Rant.

Bethesda confirms that they are not only patching "Fallout 4" on the PS4 Pro, but it appears "Skyrim: Special Edition" will be getting one too. However, it seems that the 58GB texture pack update will only be exclusive for the PC version of the post-apocalyptic RPG.
