Developer Psyonix released a new update for Rocket League to celebrate the launch of Season 13. Patch v2.34 has overhauled the Play Menu to make things more streamlined. However, it also made a significant change that a lot of players will not be happy about.

Play Menu Overhaul

Psyonix has updated the look of the game's main menu to make things easier and more streamlined for Rocket League players. One of the things that players will notice upon logging in is that the playlists for Competitive and Extra Modes have been combined into a single card. Furthermore, players who want to get into a match quickly can now queue up for up to six competitive playlists at once!

The company will also alternate between "Snow Day" and "Dropshot" for competitive modes each season, starting with Competitive Snow Day in Season 13.

A couple of new cards have been added to the Play Menu as well. The "Play Offline Card" contains Exhibition Mode, Season Mode, and Workshop Maps. The "Private Match Card" is a new card that contains options for allowing players to create LAN or Private Matches.

In addition, Rocket League players who are practicing in Training Mode can now directly join an existing Private Match. On top of that, players can now load a different Workshop Map even if they are already inside one.

Trading System Removed

Aside from the Play Menu overhaul, Patch v2.34 has effectively removed player-to-player (P2P) trading in Rocket League. According to Psyonix, the reason for the removal of the trading system is to "align with Epic's overall approach to game cosmetics and item shop policies."

For those who do not know, Epic Games, makers of Fortnite, acquired Psyonix in 2019. Anyway, the company's decision to abolish P2P trading for good seems cut and dry, the Rocket League community is not buying it.

Redditor @YuGiOhJCJ said that the only acceptable reason for the removal of the trading system is to avoid scams and fraudulent services.

Another user has a different take on this, stating that Epic is broke and needs people to pay the company for some "colorful pixels."
