Apple Drones For Mapping Release Date, Specs, News & Updates: Indoor Maps Of Airports And Museums In Your Pocket

Apple will soon be using drones such as the SZ DJI Technology Co. and Aibotix GmbH to keep up with competitors ' mapping prowess. According to reports, Apple will be developing the Indoor.Io and WifiSlam 2103 that it acquired a couple of years back to provide a concise indoor mapping to its consumers. It would allegedly be available for public use in late 2017 to early 2018. Operating Apple Drones for mapping would be a very practical move for the company to update its mapping apps. It can be noted that a mapping app called Indoor Survey was recently introduced.

In documents gathered by Bloomberg News, Apple filed for an exemption last September 21, 2015, and was given a go signal by the Federal Aviation Administration to fly drones for commercial purposes. According to the source, the document stated that Apple can "operate an unmanned aircraft system to conduct data collection, photography, and videography" with the additional guidelines that FAA mandated be followed such as limiting the use of drones in daytime and having a licensed pilot to operate the drones within the person's line of sight. Using Apple Drones will make mapping easier and more reliable.

The Apple drones for mapping can be used to fly around a place to check for road changes and if certain areas are under construction. According to reliable sources, a new feature of the iPhone would include indoor mapping views for public places  such as museums and airports and this can be done easier and rapidly if drones are utilized. The source also added that a team of robotics expert and data-collection experts are currently assembled by the company to aid the existing team that uses camera and sensor vans. No official statement has been made by Apple when asked regarding these new plans.
