'The Vampire Diaries' Season 8 Updates: Nina Dobrev's Return As Katherine Could Mean Trouble for Stefan & Caroline; Stefan Killed By Damon?

Nina Dobrev’s return to “The Vampire Diaries” Season 8 is one of the most anticipated events of the season especially now that the series is on its final season. Meanwhile, spoilers indicate that Stefan’s (Paul Wesley) death will be dealt by no other than his brother Damon (Ian Somerhalder).

EP Julie Plec has already confirmed that she has talked with Dobrev about her comeback to “The Vampire Diaries” Season 8. Plec said that a scheduling problem be the only thing that could prevent it from happening. No other official details have been released as to exactly when and how Dobrev will return to the series have been released .

Reports say that Dobrev has already finished her first episode back on “The Vampire Diaries” Season 8, which speculations say is supposed to be episode 12. Further speculations say that she will return as Katherine Pierce and not as her more famous character of Elena Gilbert. This is in order for Dobrev not to have scenes with her real life ex-fiance, Somerhalder. These of course are not confirmed reports since details of Dobrev’s return are being kept under tight wraps.

Things will certainly turn complicated in the relationship of Stefan with Caroline (Candice King) should Dobrev will indeed return as Katherine in “The Vampire Diaries” Season 8. Despite their recent setback caused by Cade (Wole Parks), the couple have been going strong. But, everyone knows that Katherine was Stefan’s first and true love back in the first season. Whether he has to choose between his two great loves remains to be seen.

There are “The Vampire Diaries” Season 8 spoilers however that say that Stefan will be killed on Christmas Eve. In the upcoming episode, Damon and Sybil (Nathalie Kelley) will crash Stefan and Caroline’s Christmas eve celebration. In the promo for the episode, Caroline can be seen drinking to Stefan’s death and it looks like Damon will be the one responsible for it.

The next episode of “The Vampire Diaries” Season 8 is titled “The Next Time I Hurt Somebody, It Could Be You”. New episode air Friday nights on The CW.
