Garbage Pail Kids Puketacular: New Series From IDW Brings Gross Out 80s Characters Back From The Dead

Garbage Pail Kids Is Returning From The Dump In New Comic

Way back in the 1980s there were two things that were huge. Cabbage Patch Kids, the lovable dolls that parents went crazy trying to get their hands on and Garbage Pail Kids, which are basically the exact opposite. Fans of subversive humor will be happy to hear the GPK all making a comeback in the form for a comic series from IDW Press.

Jem Rocks On in New Comic Series

The trading card based tots will be appearing in their own series titled Garbage Pail Kids Comic Book Puketacular #1 which coincides with the 30 year anniversary of the totally gross kids reports Comic Book Resources. The original was created by Art Spiegelman who is also known for his award winning book Maus which deals with the horrors of the Holocaust. Very different focuses there.

The new series will have a variety of different writers such as Peter Bagge of Hate fame, and Dean Haspiel of The Quitter. The book will feature mostly Indie writers to capture the feel of the original series.

ComiXology is Celebrating the Season Of Giving with 12 Days of Free Comics

The comic will be an anthology with stories following the individual kids with their problems. With names like Scotty Potty and Asphalt Walt, you can probably guess how their problems go. Basically, each character's name is a play on what is wrong with them. Generally speaking, whatever is wrong with them is really, really gross. Usually something to do with unpleasant bodily functions.

Garbage Pail Kids Comic Book Puketacular #1 is available this month on December 24 with four variant covers. Just in time for Christmas. Did you know they even had a movie and a new card game? Well, you do now.
