LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA - JULY 10: Dr DisRespect attends The 2019 ESPYs at Microsoft Theater on July 10, 2019 in Los Angeles, California.

As reported by IGN, the game is officially classified by Beahm's Midnight Society studio as a "PvPvE extraction shooter." Called "Project Moon" as of the moment, the triple-A shooter is described like this in its official website:

"Our high-level gameplay goals are to capture the essence of arena shooter level design with the scale and score of battle royale player counts, and the session-to-session gameplay mechanics of extraction-based shooters."

Strip out all the big game developer jargon and you get a game like this: imagine a game like Quake 3 or Doom, where players are let loose in an enclosed map design against enemies. Then, combine that with the massive concurrent player counts of a battle royale title like Fortnite. Lastly, mix that with the gameplay mechanics of a game like Escape From Tarkov, where players get to keep the loot everytime they survive, but lose it everytime they bring it to them and they die (thanks, PC Gamer).

Mix all three of those games' main elements together with their target verticality (they call it a "vertical extraction shooter"), and you get what Dr. Disrespect's team at Midnight Society wants to make. They even shared a few screenshots of the game's earliest build on the studio's website, showcasing the potential scale of the game itself when it finally comes out.

The studio first teased Project Moon with a tweet on January 1st, where a short 9-second Cyberpunk-like video was posted:

It was then revealed that this was the very game that Beahm himself has been teasing even before his studio was founded. According to Dexerto, he mentioned about a year ago about wanting to make a "vertical battle royale" taking inspiration from Escape From Tarkov, while also taking the large-scale scopes of Warzone or Battlefield.

No release date yet has been planned.

Is There Something To Be Excited For About Dr. Disrespect's Game?

Some people might assume that the Doc is just another streamer who's way in over his head with a triple-A game development project. But he's more experienced in the industry itself than you think.

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA - APRIL 29: Video-game streamer Dr DisRespect announces the San Francisco 49ers' 93rd overall pick during round three of the 2022 NFL Draft on April 29, 2022 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

For those who didn't know, before he blew up as a streamer, Guy Beahm worked for Call Of Duty studio Sledgehammer Games. In 2011, he was named as the studio's Community Manager. But while he has already established his Dr. Disrespect persona a year later, he was still not as big as he is right now.

Eventually, he also became a part of the team behind Call Of Duty: Advanced Warfare as an actual developer. This likely influenced his earliest hires for Midnight Society, which included former Call Of Duty and even Halo devs. The guy really wants his own big-budget first-person shooter, and he's well on his way to getting it.
