'Diablo 2 Resurrected' Patch 2.4 Update Guide: New Rune Words, Class Balance Changes, and More Things Players could Expect

Blizzard Entertainment announced that they are including new gameplay additions in Diablo II: Resurrected for its Patch 2.4 Update, which will implemented first in the role-playing game's Public Test Realm (PTR).

The said new gameplay additions will new Rune Words that the players can create and insert in a socketed gear and new recipes for the Horadric Cube.

The developers also revealed the balance changes that will be implemented first in the PTR, all of which will focus on balancing the game's available Job Classes, especially for their skills.

New Additions

One of the new additions that the developers of Diablo II: Resurrected will include in the game for its Patch 2.4 update, according to FTW, are the new Rune Words such as "Mist" and "Plague."

The former, according to Wowhead, can be inserted in any Socketed (5) Bow Class weapon. Once inserted, it can provide an additional 42 to 299 two-hand damage, as well as a very fast attack speed and a Level 9 Concentration Aura.

The said Rune Word can provide +3 to all Skills, a +20% increased attack speed, a +100% piercing attack, a +327% enhanced damage, a +9 to the weapon's maximum damage, and a 20% bonus to attack rating, as well as an additional 3-14 Cold Damage.

Also, the bow that has "Mist" Rune Word can freeze a target +3, provides +24 to the wielder's Vitality and +40 to all of its Resistances.

The latter, on the other hand, can be inserted in any Socketed (3) Sword weapon, and can provide 20% chance to cast a Level 12 Lower Resist when Struck, as well as a 25% chance to cast Level 15 Poison Nova on Striking.

It will also provide a Level 14 Cleansing Aura to the wielder, as well as a +1 to all Skills, a +20% increased attack speed, a +311% enhanced damage, -23% to the enemy's poison resistance, a +37% Deadly Strike, which will be based on the wielder's Level, a +25% chance to inflict Open Wounds, and it can freeze a target +3.

According to a post in the Blizzard's website, players who will be participating in the PTR can use said Rune Words that will be included in the game once the patch update rolls out.

Another addition that will be tested in the same PTR are the new recipes for Horadric Cube that can complement Set items, especially those that are generally underused by the players, all of which will receive improvements.

Once they have experienced using them during the PTR, according to the developers, they can leave feedback in order for them analyze and see if they need more tweaking before finally rolling them out in Diablo II: Resurrected.

Balance Changes

Aside from the said new additions, Blizzard also released a set of balance changes for several Job Classes available in Diablo II: Resurrected as part of its Patch 2.4 Update.

According to the same post in the developers' website, several of the Javelin and Spear Skills of the Amazon Class, such as Impale and Fend, are tweaked.

The former will become an uninterruptible attack and will always hits a target, as well as it can inflict Slow by a percentage for a duration but its Attack Rating modification was removed. The latter, on the other hand, will have its Attack Speed increased by 100%.

Both of its Power Strike, Charged Strike, and Lightning Strike will have their synergy with Lighning Fury removed, and have their synergy with other skills such as Lightning Bolt increased from +10% to +14%.

On the other hand, several of its Bow and Crossbow Skills will be tweaked, such as the Freezing Arrow, which will have its Mana cost per level will be reduced from +0.5 to +0.25, while its Magic Arrow will have its bonus damage per level increased from +5% to +7%.

The 25% weapon damage reduction from Strafe will be removed, while the mana cost will no longer increase per level.

The attack rating bonus of several of the Assassin Class' Martial Arts Skills such as Fist of Fire, Claws of Thunder, and Blades of Ice will be increased from +15% to +25% baseline, and from +7% to +10% per level.

The Dragon Talon, Dragon Claw, Dragon Tail, and the Dragon Flight skill will now consume only 1 of each Martial Arts charge when cast, and can now always hit the target if it has the said charges.

The Barbarian Class' Warcries such as Howl, Battle Cry, and Battle Orders will have its tooltip display the radius, while its Throwing Mastery will have an added chance to pierce.

The Elemental Skills of the Druid Class such as Firestorm, Molten Boulder, Fissure, and Volcano will have their casting delay no longer share their cooldown with other skills that have casting delays, while its Werewolf and Werebear Shape Shifting Skills will have their determined attack speeds while transformed changed.

Other skills that will be receiving changes from the Patch 2.4 Update include the Summoning Skills and Curses, as well as the Poison and Bone Skills, for the Necromancer Class, the Defensive and Offensive Auras for the Paladin Class, and the Cold, Lightning, and Fire Skills for the Sorceress Class.
