'Destiny': Latest Weapons Of Choice For 'Trials Of Osiris'

Destiny has recently received an update that resulted in some changes with how Special ammunition works during PVP as well as some weapon balance tweaks. The game's weekly competitive event called "Trials of Osiris" saw top players adapt to the new changes imposed by Bungie. Fans are apparently attentive to the most effective tactics, weapons and subclasses used by notable players. These strategies are then tested and applied in the crucible.

The most recent "Trials" have reportedly seen an increased usage of sidearms, since these weapons get a bonus clip whenever a player respawns after death. The weapon type was primarily being used during matches with an Elimination game type, according to Destiny Trials Report. It becomes an advantage for the team if they respawn with special ammo in tow for the next few rounds. These weapons are apparently exempted from the latest update due to their perk, which grants the user ammo every time during their respawn.

Game Rant notes that the report from the latest "Trials of Osiris" event shows that close to 54 percent of deaths were credited to sidearms. It also reportedly boasted a 50 percent increase compared to the week prior. Ever since Bungie adjusted the weapon balance for shotguns, "Destiny" has seen only 3 percent of kills credited to the weapon type. Prior to the latest update, most matches have seen players in shotgun shootouts almost every time.

Meanwhile, it seems that players also have other options compared to just sidearms. The usage data also indicates that the most popular secondary weapons were No Land Beyond and Ice Breaker. The No Land Beyond ignores the Special ammo restriction since its treated as a primary weapon, which is refilled during respawns. Ice Breaker is also obviously favored for its perk that regenerates ammunition over time.

The most recent "Destiny" update was covered in a report by Gamenguide, which elaborated the changes that will affect its PVP balance in the crucible. Bungie has detailed that the tweaks will nerf certain shotgun advantages and also change the Special ammo element in events like the "Trials of Osiris." Sources predict that the numbers will definitely change as time goes on, but gamers will most likely fashion their weapon loadout to compensate for the changes.
